PSP

Before the PlayStation Portable, PSP used to stand for 'pierced steel plating' (aka Marsden Matting), and the US military used it to make airstrips during the Korean War. If you consider that the Korean War ended (well, it never actually ended, nor was it ever an official 'war') a good 60 years ago, it's somewhat surprising that there's so much of this stuff still lying around in rural Korea. I've seen it being used in at least a dozen different ways. Apparently the steel was made with a high manganese content, which made it resistant to corrosion. Now you know that.
