Eurasian Hoopoe

The ultimate rock n roll bird.  I've run into these pretty rarely over the years, and I've never been able to get a decent picture.  I secured this picture by doing a ridiculous special forces power roll onto my belly to get a clear shot.  I am strange.  This Hoopoe made my day (easily amused), and it's another good sign that spring migration is under way.  Hoops!

  1. I took a piture of one of these fancy little bastards yesterday in the UAE! Started a silly little bird blog at http://goeatouttoronto.blogspot.com/ (the URL is left over from a failed blog in T.O.)

Hope Jeju is treating you well.

  2. I found your blog here: http://thegreenbeeeater.blogspot.com/

Sweet! I like the male tschutschensis Eastern Yellow Wagtail. And the Hoopoe, always a show-stopper! How's the UAE? Looks like some sweet birding out there! The spring birds are just starting to trickle into Jeju, I'm pumped. Gonna do a long southwest coast trip tomorrow

  3. Cool. Yeah, there is some good bird action out here right now. We live right on the Arabian Gulf. The UAE is lucrative but the job is tough cause the kids are insane. Plus the middle east doesn't jive with all night outdoor boozin' like good ol' Corea. My soul for a Family Mart tall-boy!
