What, did I make some kind of new year's resolution to get all linky? Dunno. This won't be a long-winded Melvins story. Saw Jon Spencer and the boys live in the mid-90's sometime, and it was sick - he was jumping off the balcony and stuff. This large and likeable dude from out of town, Buddy, who had apparently slept with everyone's wife and was an expert at jumping out of windows when husbands came home, was with us. He could shotgun a 950 ml tallcan ('Le Boss') with a key in 10 seconds. A hero. Anyways, he hadn't heard of JSBX until that night, so we pre-gamed him with some vinyl and harshly strong beer. At the show, he kept bellowing 'BELLBOTTOMS!!' at the top of his vast and able lungs. He deafened both Jon Spencer and I. Halfway through the set, Jon Spencer finally relented and said "Ok, ok, here's Bellbottoms", and flashed me a 'Yeesh, take care of your boy' look. I chanced to look at the setlist taped to the stage later, and it turns out that they had been saving Bellbottoms as an encore. Well done, Buddy. BELLBOTTOMS! CRANK IT!!
